KENYA: SUPPORTING FARMERS
My trips to Kenya were initially to document water and school projects, that Rotary Club International had developed over the past ten years in order to create marketing materials to generate more awareness and revenue for future projects. These trips opened my eyes to "food security" and how it affects much of the country. We dreamed to create sustainable, aquaponic grow beds that would combine traditional aquaculture with hydroponic gardening. For many reasons, the project failed. The number one reason was trying to implement "our ideas" without listening intently to the people themselves who have infinitely more knowledge of their land and needs than we ever could.

What came out of that failure were lifelong friendships and a mutual trust towards a common goal: Food Security.
I'm eager to offer all proceeds from the The Kenya Collection to go directly into the hands of the people working the land and fully understand their economic needs. These prints refract light through a museum-quality acrylic that brings vibrancy and depth to the photograph. They are naturally UV resistant and are ready to hang. |
