My friend and I were on a five-day trip through the Palouse. Although we were armed with finely detailed maps, we were without direction. We stopped for breakfast in a small farming community and started chatting with the locals about possible locations for photographs. On man piped up and said, "Stop back on Thursday at 5:00 and ask for Dan. He'll know what you're looking for." We arrived at 5:00 with our maps and questions. Dan happens to be a historian for the local area and the more we talked, the more he got excited and kept putting marks on our maps. This classic barn was not easy to find. It was in the middle of a vast wheat field and not near a road. Thankfully, Dan provided us with with the proper spot.
