From the Palouse area of Eastern Washington, where I went to school and just offers me a connection to a landscape that no other place does. Traveling, I found this place on a rumor of a glorious red barn. The first time I saw it, it was in July and the fields of wheat were still showing their mottled tones of green and amber. A return trip in August, in the middle of harvest, was more than we could have hoped for.

Growing up in Washington State, with its abundance of glorious scenery and wild places, John Shephard always harbored a love of the great outdoors, a passion that manifested itself through landscape photography. His preferred medium is film, using panoramic cameras to capture a field of view comparable to the human eye.
