Skagit Gold
For several seasons, I returned to this field in the Skagit Valley, an hour north of my home, trying to capture the fullness and richness of its beauty. Each year, the fields of daffodils seemed to stretch endlessly, glowing under the wide skies, but no image ever felt quite like the scene I saw in person. On this particular day, I decided to try something different—a shallow depth of field with the late morning light softly illuminating the flowers.
The result brought the foreground blooms into sharp focus while allowing the background to fall gently out of focus, creating a sense of depth and inviting the viewer into the scene. The golden daffodils seemed to dance against the soft blues of the sky, their vibrant color a testament to the arrival of spring.
