I’ve always been drawn to the fleeting magic of larch season in the North Cascades—the vibrant yellows of the larches glowing against the evergreens, a stark yet harmonious contrast. Chasing these hues has become something of a ritual, each trek fueled by the hope of finding a perspective no one else has seen, a hidden corner where the wilderness feels untouched and eternal.
This photograph captures one such moment, deep near Cutthroat Lake. The rushing creek leads the eye toward the towering cliffs, shrouded in the soft embrace of low-hanging clouds. The larches on the ridges above seemed to radiate their golden glow, as if whispering the secrets of the season.
