Serendipity
Olympic National Park has always felt like a sanctuary to me—a place where the lush greens and earthy tranquility create a setting that both calms and inspires. I was drawn to the richness of the forest, where vibrant mosses, ferns, and fallen logs mingled with the gentle flow of water. The palette of deep greens and warm earth tones invited a stillness that I wanted to capture.
As I set up my composition, a subtle breeze teased the branches, presenting a challenge for the long exposure I envisioned. To achieve the softness of the cascading water while preserving the intricate detail of the forest, I carefully made four exposures on the same frame of film. This approach allowed me to blend the sharpness of static elements with the dreamy fluidity of motion, amplifying the ethereal interplay of light and texture.
